UAE Document Legalisation and Visa Process

Background Check

Document Legalisation

Work Permit

Work Visa

To obtain a work permit for the UAE, you may need to legalise various documents, such as your university degree, background check, teaching qualification, transcripts, higher education degrees, or high school diploma. Contact your employer to confirm which documents require legalization.

If you are bringing a spouse and/or children to the UAE, you may also need to legalize your marriage license and/or your children's birth certificates.

For a teaching role in the UAE, you will need to obtain a background check from the country where you currently reside. This is a necessary step to ensure you meet the security and safety standards required for employment in the UAE.

Have your document notarized by a local notary or solicitor. They need to sign off on copied documents to verify they are authentic copies. They should sign using their personal signature in ink, with their name printed below, and apply their seal.

Submit your documents to the FCO office in London, depending on where the documents were issued. You can submit your documents by post or visit their website. Ensure you complete the form fully to avoid rejection.

Submit your documents to the UAE Embassy. Look for the "Legalization" section under Consular Services.

Once your documents have been legalised for the UAE, you will need  to scan and send them to your employer. They will handle the work permit application process, which can take between 3 to 6 weeks, so it is important to act promptly.

Once your work permit has been approved, your employer will email the relevant documents to you. You can then take or mail these to the embassy to obtain your work visa.
